Year 35...

So this past weekend I celebrated my 35th birthday.  My dad made the comment that he couldn't hardly believe he had a 35 year old child. Hey, Dad, I can't believe you have a 35 yr. old child either! LOL!

It turned out to be one of my best birthdays ever! I woke to several birthday text messages & a phone call from my bestie :). I got out of the shower to a voicemail from my mom singing "Happy Birthday" (: & throughout the rest of the day so many FaceBook & email birthday wishes came in that I lost count!

Then I enjoyed a FABULOUS dinner out with my 2 favorite people :)

On top of the awesome dinner with awesome company, I also got some great gifts:

(Which is always awesome & made a perfect gift to go along with....)

I've been wanting an e-reader for a while now, but it has just never been in the cards until now. I am so excited! The only problem is that now I don't want to study, I just want to read even more! :)

I'm so grateful & blessed that my life is so full of incredible people who all added to my birthday & made it so special! I am a VERY lucky lady! Year 35 is going to be a BIG year for me & I'm so excited at all this year holds for me & my family!

Worth A Listen...

Livi showed me this after someone she knew posted it on FaceBook.
This man has a beautiful & poetic way of stating what I have felt for literally years.  He's worth the listen...

“Patience is waiting. Not passively waiting. That is laziness. But to keep going when the going is hard and slow - that is patience.” ~ Unknown

Let me tell ya, 2012 is already really trying my patience.  I had all the positive hopes that a gal can have when faced with a new year, but these 1st few days have been rough ones.

It started a few days before the new year when Toby got sick. Not the little sniffles, REALLY sick. I think it was the flu to start with, but it settled in his lung & by New Year's Day it was full out pneumonia. So, we got to start off 2012 with a visit to the nearest Urgent Care (an hr drive from us...why oh why can't anyone see the need for this type of facility in our own county?!?)

With a couple days worth of antibiotics in him, he's finally starting to feel some better, but any of you who've had pneumonia know that you aren't 100% for several weeks after a bout with it. All of this just in time for me to take some kind of virus & pick up cold & cough. Yuck!

Of course, while all of this was/is going on, I am in the middle of a battle with the college I'm attending in order to get the rest of my financial aid for this school year so that I can pay for my spring semester. The powers that be took the week between Christmas & New Year's off, but not before mailing out the bad news letter so that it would arrive on Christmas Eve at my door. Merry Christmas to me, eh? Believe me, it wouldn't have taken much for me to go all Clark Griswold on them. LOL! It's worth noting, the problem is not one I created or had anything to do with, but they really don't care who created the mess. It's always the student left waiting while they "process" the paperwork & hoping that they manage to get everything straightened out in time for you to buy your required books; yet knowing that there's a very good chance that that won't happen & you'll have to figure out how to manage without the financial aid for at least a few weeks longer than you had planned. But, hey, it's just financial aid. No one really needs that do they?

Well, that's been the awesome start to our 2012. Here's to hoping it gets much better from here! And, because this is one of my favorite movie scenes of all time & because it always makes me smile, I'll leave you with Clark :)
